Hawks volleyball defeated by #2 Iowa Western

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - The Northeast Community College volleyball team fell to Iowa Western Community College here last night in three sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-14).

Iowa Western is currently ranked second in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I poll. Northeast plays in Division II.

Macy Stewart led the Hawks in kills with nine. Samantha Brester had one solo block and two assist blocks. Four players had one ace serve each: Monique Schafer, Savannah Nelson, Peyton Roach and Delaney Belt. Schafer and Nelson had 13 and nine digs, respectively, and Nelson dished out 19 assists.

The Hawks (15-13) will host Central Community College tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus in conjunction with the Hawks’ Dig Pink event, which helps bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer. To raise funds for the Side Out Foundation, Dig Pink shirts will be available for sale before the start of the game.
