Northeast in South Sioux City to host adult education open house

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE - Northeast Community College’s Adult Education department in South Sioux City will hold an open house in October to spotlight its new location and the various services it offers. The Adult Education Open House will be held Thursday, October 12, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus, 1001 College Way.

Participants will learn about the various services offered by Adult Education, which include Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes, preparation for the General Educational Development (GED®) test and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

The Adult Education department has recently moved to the South Sioux City extended campus from its prior location at the South Sioux City Public Library.

Nancy Schultz, director of adult education, said the move offers many benefits for students in the program.

“Our recent move to the South Sioux City extended campus has provided an enhanced learning environment and proximity to opportunities beyond the services offered through Adult Education. The academic atmosphere gives our students confidence that they are receiving quality services and that many post-secondary opportunities exist as students pursue their careers.”

Anyone interested in enrolling in classes or serving as a volunteer tutor is invited to attend the open house.

In addition to South Sioux City, Northeast’s Adult Education department offers courses in Norfolk, O’Neill, Wakefield and West Point.
