"We started off really slow," said Chad Miller, Northeast coach. "We were moving the ball but not with a lot of intention. Dakota County clogged up the middle pretty well, which made it difficult to get anything through."

Erika Kumm put the Hawks on the board late in the first half with an unassisted goal.

"In the second half, we played with much more enthusiasm and really started possessing the ball," Miller said. "We were putting a lot of pressure on their back line, and then we finally broke through early. After that, we really took over the momentum."

Hailey Curry scored her first of three goals with a pass from Ellie Gess. Less than two minutes later, Katie Martindale scored with a pass from Gess, and five minutes later, Curry scored her second goal with a pass from Lindsey Epp. Curry's hat-trick came three minutes later with an assist by Tayler Ohu.
