Hawks fall to Raiders in golf dual

NORFOLK, NE – Central Community College outshot Northeast Community College in a two-person best ball dual Thursday at Fairplay Golf Course here.

The Raiders won two-and-a-half points to the Hawks one-and-a-half.

Northeast Coach Kurt Pytleski said they decided to play a four match, two-person best ball format since the greens were just aeriated.

“It was fun for the guys to play a different format and to just change things up a little. “In match one, Central won by four holes, match two was a tie, match three was won by Northeast by five holes, and match four was won by Central by one hole.

Pytleski said in best ball play, one bad hole does not affect the outcome of the match like stroke play.

“For example, if we would have played a normal stroke play match, Northeast would have won by six strokes. It was a fun format and we may make this an annual best ball event.

The Hawks will take part in the 2017 Blue River Classic next Tuesday and Wednesday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club and Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln.
