Northeast agriculture instructor earns hall of fame honors

KEARNEY, NE - A Northeast Community College instructor has been recognized for career achievement. Mike Roeber, agriculture instructor/livestock judging coach at Northeast, has been inducted into the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Region V Hall of Fame.

He was presented with a plaque at the Nebraska Career Education Conference in Kearney recently.

The honors are bestowed on ACTE members who have made significant impact on the field of career and technical education at the national, regional and state levels.

This is the fourth year the Hall of Fame award has been presented at the Region V ACTE Conference.  A total of eleven individuals have earned the honor.

“I have worked with many of the inductees at the regional and national levels over the years and consider it quite an honor to be included in the group,” Roeber said.

ACTE is the largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for careers.

Now in his 20th year at Northeast Community College, Roeber’s main teaching area falls within the animal science program. As part of his responsibilities, he conducts many programs and workshops outside of the classroom, many of which are focused on the youth in the 20-county area served by Northeast and throughout the state of Nebraska.

Roeber has previously been recognized for his educational work. The Association for Career and Technical Education of Nebraska (ACTEN) and Nebraska Agriculture Educators Association (NAEA) honored him during the Nebraska Career Education Conference in Kearney in 2014. He was selected as the ACTEN’s Outstanding Postsecondary Teacher. Roeber has been honored as the Outstanding Agriculture Teacher by the Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association and has been recognized for teaching excellence at the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) conference.

In addition, Roeber received the US Bank Award as the Outstanding Fulltime Faculty Member at Northeast Community College in 2013.
