Northeast celebrates Aspen Prize with students

NORFOLK, NE - Lori Vanderheiden, dean of enrollment management at Northeast Community College, hands a t-shirt to student Justin Jones, Norfolk, (left) that reads “I Attend a Top Ten College.”

College administrators handed out the t-shirts and cupcakes to students on Tuesday to celebrate Northeast being named this spring as one of America’s top ten community colleges by the Aspen Institute. The award has been established as the signature recognition of high achievement and performance among America’s 1,100 community colleges. The back of the t-shirt reads, “Northeast: An Aspen Institute Top Ten U.S. Community College.” Similar celebrations were held at Northeast’s extended campuses in O’Neill, South Sioux City and West Point.
