Holiday concert planned at Northeast

NORFOLK - The music department at Northeast Community College invites everyone to get in the holiday spirit with a concert to be held in December. The Northeast Community College Holiday Concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Sunday, December 4, at 2 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center on the Norfolk campus.

The college/community concert band, concert choir and women’s ensemble will take the stage, as well as Ebony & Crimson, Northeast’s men’s and women’s audition ensemble.

Instrumental selections to be performed at the concert include “Gesu Bambino” by Pietro Yon and arranged by Ployhar; “A Vaughn Williams Christmas,” arranged by D. Wagner; and “Fantasia on a 13th Century Carol” by James Hosay.

Vocal selections will include “In the Bleak Midwinter” arranged by Jay Rouse; “December Rose” by T. Fettke and T. Grassi; “The Candlelight Canon” by Audrey Snyder; “A Festive Noel” by Victor Johnson, “Snowfall Lullaby” arranged by Greg Gilpin; and “Noel, Noel” by Linda Spevacek.

Dr. Linda Boullion, music department chair and director of vocal music activities, is the director of concert choir, women’s ensemble and Ebony & Crimson. Margaret Schultz is the accompanist.

The college/community concert band is led by Kevin McLouth, instrumental music instructor/director of instrumental activities at Northeast.
