NORFOLK – A member of the Northeast Community College golf team will continue his collegiate golf career after graduation. Preston Peters has signed to play golf at the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UNK).

Peters, Bancroft, said he is excited about the opportunity to play for the Lopers.

“Their team is having a lot of success and I hope that I can contribute. It’s going to fun over the next two years.”

Peters has enjoyed his time playing for the Hawks.

“Brad (Bosh) has been a great coach and we have connected really well and I have really enjoyed playing with my team mates. It’s been a really great two years here and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

Bosh said he’s proud of Peters’ accomplishments and in the leadership skills he possesses.

“Preston stepped in as a freshman and took on the leadership role the day he walked on campus. He has finished in the top 10 individually, eight times over the past two years. We have one last goal to accomplish as a team and that is heading to the national tournament this spring. Not only is Preston a leader on our golf team, he excels in the classroom as well.  I am very honored to have been able to coach this young man the last two years and I know he will be a great asset and have much success at UNK.”

Peters is pursuing a degree in business administration.

He will join Conner Watson, a former Northeast golfer, on UNK’s golf team.
