Media & Performing Arts Day at Northeast

Dillion Smith, Neligh, and Hannah Wick, Pleasanton, members of the Northeast Community College Singer’s Express, perform for high school students during Northeast’s annual Media and Performing Arts Day recently on the Norfolk campus.

The Singer’s Express is directed by Dr. Linda Boullion, department chair and director of choral music activities at Northeast. Margaret Schultz is the accompanist. During the day, sixty-two students from eastern Nebraska and western Iowa also had the opportunity to act, shoot, edit and produce a trailer for a scary movie, take part in sessions in audio recording technology production, mass media, music, art and design, participate in an improvisational activity in the College’s theatre, watch a performance of the Northeast Community College/Norfolk Community Theatre production of “My Fair Lady,” and take an optional tour of campus. Schools participating included Aurora, Axtell, Battle Creek, Fremont, Burke – Omaha, Hartington-Newcastle, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Newell-Fonda (IA), Norfolk, Northwest, Pierce, Winnebago and Yutan.
