Why Students Choose This Program
This course is specifically designed to meet the Nebraska Health & Human Services System’s training requirements for nurse aide certification, ensuring students are fully prepared for employment in long-term care facilities. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to sit for both the state’s written and practical skills exams. After passing the exams and completing the application process, students will be added to the Basic Nurse Aide Registry with the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division, officially recognizing them as certified nurse aides in the state.
Small class sizes not only offer individualized support but also allow students to benefit from the expertise of highly committed and experienced faculty. With fewer students, professors can engage more personally with each individual, tailoring their teaching to address specific needs and fostering a deeper understanding of the material. Instructors are dedicated to students' success, ensuring a supportive and enriching learning environment where students can thrive.
At Northeast Community College, our Basic Nurse Aide program is enhanced by labs and the use of manikins, providing students with an immersive, hands-on learning experience. These lab experiences replicate real-world healthcare settings, allowing students to practice medical techniques and use equipment in a realistic and controlled environment. This approach ensures students gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the healthcare field.
Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses
The Basic Nurse Aide program offers extensive hands-on learning experiences that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. In addition to classroom lectures, students participate in laboratory sessions where they practice essential nursing skills such as patient care, vital sign monitoring, and proper body mechanics. These practical opportunities provide students with the confidence and competence needed to deliver high-quality care. By working directly with equipment, role-playing patient interactions, and practicing procedures, students gain valuable, real-life experience that prepares them for success in long-term care environments.
