Northeast has begun the process of cancelling some Non-Credit classes through May 13th. Many of our Non-Credit classes have been cancelled or are adjusting the class delivery format. We are doing our best to contact students enrolled in current and upcoming classes.

Driver's Education

This is a Provisional Operators Permit Driver Training course for individuals 14-17 years old. You will acquire the basic skills to operate a vehicle. Bring Learner's or School permit to the first class. 20 hours of classroom and at least 6 hours of driving are required. The book is provided for the class. Parents/Guardians are asked to attend the first part of the first class along with the student. The driving experience will be arranged with the student.

Headstones and History

The Irish have always loved a good story, and in a prairie town begun by Irish settlers, a few of those good stories are sure to be found at the local cemetery. Instructor Natalie Butterfield will draw on insider knowledge, with family going back 140 years here, to share “the stories behind the stones” at the historic O’Neill Cemetery. Besides answering general questions like “What’s with those concrete tree trunks?”, you will hear tales of heroism, hilarity, and undying love. Meet men who risked their lives in dedication to duty, like William Froelich, the remarkable Kearns brothers, and hear of a blood feud that lasted beyond the grave. Learn of the saintly Monsignor, Michael Cassidy, and of the Angel of Corregidor, along with rebels, renegades, and ordinary people enduring extraordinary events. You will gain a deeper knowledge of these fascinating personalities and their circumstances, in a way that must be experienced to be understood. This class will meet the first night at the O’Neill Extended Campus, for a discussion and presentation, and will conclude with a walking tour of the cemetery on the second night of the class.

Medication Aide

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state administered written exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the student's name will be placed on the medication aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. The book is located in the Norfolk campus bookstore, 402-844-7140.
