Agri-business Seminar

This class will cover, in detail, the sales tax exemption for commercial agricultural producers on the purchase and repair of equipment. Discussion will include qualifying agricultural operations, equipment and parts, and how to obtain a refund for tax paid on parts for depreciable agricultural equipment purchased prior to October 1, 2014. Exemptions for feed, seed, and chemicals will be explained. A portion of the session will be dedicated to contractors who build structures, such as grain bins used in agricultural operations. Instructors will teach participants how to complete tax returns for a variety of scenarios, as well as related exemption and refund forms. This session will benefit farmers, implement dealers, equipment suppliers, and parts store owners, as well as those who operate machine shops and other types of repair facilities. It is also relevant to feed & seed suppliers. 3 hours of CPE credit available. This course will be offered via distance learning technology from Norfolk to Ainsworth, O'Neill, and West Point.

Driver's Education

EMT Part I

This course is dedicated to the study and application of the knowledge and skills necessary for an individual to become an Emergency Medical Technician and provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service. The course will include the first half of the applications/skills needed to apply for licensure as an EMT in the State of Nebraska. After successful completion of this course and EMTL-1845 the student will be eligible to apply to test for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) cognitive examination. Once the student has passed both the cognitive and practical skills examinations of the NREMT he/she can apply to obtain an EMT license in the State of Nebraska. This class contains the current information found in the National EMS Education Standards as outlined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Medication Aide

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state administered written exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the student's name will be placed on the medication aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. Motorcycle Rider Course

The Motorcycle Rider Course (MRC) is a 15-hour course which includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding instruction. The course begins with the basics of turning, shifting, and braking and then moves onto the advanced skills and strategies for street riding. Professionally trained instructors teach in the classroom and then coach riders in a controlled riding area. Pediatric Advanced Life Support

The purpose of Pediatric Advanced Life Support is to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge of prevention and recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children. The participant will perform cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in cardiopulmonary arrest. Pediatric Basic Life Support and First Aid

Professional Truck Driver Training

The training program is an intensive course. The students will go for night drives and long runs during the course. This entails gone for a week, overnights and 14-hour days. Students will learn to operate articulated vehicles in a training environment that includes driving on city streets, two-lane, and interstate highways. The program includes 240 contact hours, 44+ hours of behind the wheel training and 190 hours of classroom, lab, and observation. An ESL test will be provided if necessary. Tuition does not include the cost of books, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR report, learner’s permit or the CDL license. The Norfolk location offers six-week course scheduled Monday through Friday, meeting 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Financial assistance is available through the Community College GAP Assistance Program for students meeting income guidelines.
