Agri-business Seminar

This class will cover, in detail, the sales tax exemption for commercial agricultural producers on the purchase and repair of equipment. Discussion will include qualifying agricultural operations, equipment and parts, and how to obtain a refund for tax paid on parts for depreciable agricultural equipment purchased prior to October 1, 2014. Exemptions for feed, seed, and chemicals will be explained. A portion of the session will be dedicated to contractors who build structures, such as grain bins used in agricultural operations. Instructors will teach participants how to complete tax returns for a variety of scenarios, as well as related exemption and refund forms. This session will benefit farmers, implement dealers, equipment suppliers, and parts store owners, as well as those who operate machine shops and other types of repair facilities. It is also relevant to feed & seed suppliers. 3 hours of CPE credit available. This course will be offered via distance learning technology from Norfolk to Ainsworth, O'Neill, and West Point.

Drone Operations

With the explosion of unmanned aircraft, particularly multi-rotor UAS (drones), there is a growing need for operators to have a better understanding of applicable regulations, flight maneuvers, mission planning and safe operations in controlled airspace. The two-day Drone Operations course will accomplish these goals and help the attendee to understand the rules of flying a UAS, as established by the FAA. It will also help them to understand the proper protocol and procedures for flying various drone missions through hands-on flight training. Ultimately, this course will help to prepare the student for the successful completion of the FAA Part 107 UAS Remote Pilot certification process. This course is designed for those who want to fly drones for commercial purposes, but also includes useful rules and information for the drone hobbyist. Hands-on flight training using the DJI fleet of drones owned and insured by Northeast Community College is included. Test Prep textbook is included in the course cost.

Gas Metal (Mig) and Flux Cored Arc Welding

In this 90-hour course, you will gain a technical understanding of Gas Metal Arc Welding (Mig) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding. You will be instructed on welding safety, equipment adjustments, metal transfer, shielding gases and you will gain proficiency in gas-shielded and metal core procedures. Welding will be done in all positions on thin gauge to thick mild steel carbon material, single and multiple pass, fillet and groove welds. The course will also provide you an understanding of oxyacetylene cutting as well as safety practices in cutting. Dedicated time will be dedicated to Mig welding of aluminum in various positions. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to perform production and maintenance welding, structural welding, and other related medium to heavy-duty manufacturing welding. Qualification testing will be conducted and in accordance with the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 Structural Welding Code. If you are able to show proficiency in each of the welding processes, you may be qualified. The total tuition for the class and testing is $2750.00. Two books are required and can be purchased at the College Book Store or by calling 402-844-7140. Medication Aide

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. Motorcycle Rider Course

The Motorcycle Rider Course (MRC) is a 15-hour course which includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding instruction. The course begins with the basics of turning, shifting, and braking and then moves onto the advanced skills and strategies for street riding. Professionally trained instructors teach in the classroom and then coach riders in a controlled riding area. Within 30 days of course completion, participants are required to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic eCourse. Details regarding eCourse will be sent to you after registering for the MRC course. There is no additional cost for the mandatory eCourse.

Personal Safety and Awareness

Keep yourself and your family safe by becoming aware and prepared. This course will teach you the importance and need for awareness, along with ways to ensure your own personal security and safety in a variet of different circumstances. Lecture, group discussions and hands-on training will be included in the training. This course will be taught by a former law enforcement officer with 15 years experience and over 1200 hours of training in the subject matter. She is a general certified general instructor for law enforcement.

Precision Measurement

Northeast Community College Center for Enterprise is offering a Precision Measurement training course designed to assist employees who engage in dimensional inspection or measurement typical to most industrial applications. This course will provide you interactive learning of conventional and precision measurement techniques. You will establish and further develop skills in the area of measurement by using a variety of measurement instruments and devices such as rulers, tapes, conventional gages, calipers, micrometers and more while earning a certification from the National Coalition Centers in Precision Measurement Instruments. Professional Truck Driver Training

The training program is an intensive course. The students will go for night drives and long runs during the course. This entails gone for a week, overnights and 14-hour days. Students will learn to operate articulated vehicles in a training environment that includes driving on city streets, two-lane, and interstate highways. The program includes 240 contact hours, 44+ hours of behind the wheel training and 190 hours of classroom, lab, and observation. An ESL test will be provided if necessary. Tuition does not include the cost of books, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR report, learner’s permit or the CDL license. The Norfolk location offers six-week course scheduled Monday through Friday, meeting 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Financial assistance is available through the Community College GAP Assistance Program for students meeting income guidelines.
