Nursing Students Find Out that Jobs Await Them Upon Graduation

NORFOLK, Neb. – They’re hiring.

That could have been the theme recently as Northeast Community College hosted a Nursing Career Fair for Northeast Community College and University of Nebraska Medical Center students who will be graduating soon in the nursing programs.

A total of 46 organizations registered for the fair, which took place earlier this month at the Lifelong Learning Center. Each year, Northeast puts on a career fair in hopes of helping to fill the nursing shortage and to help students get used to visiting with prospective employers.

From working in hospitals to getting hired privately to work in people’s homes, there are abundant opportunities in almost every nursing area.

For students who don’t have a job yet upon graduation, the career fair gave them an opportunity to meet various prospective employers. They also could schedule interviews, allowing them to get a foot in the door of a career that interests them.

Northeast students who attended were in both the LPN and ADN programs, with UNMC BSN students attending. There were 79 Northeast nursing students and 32 UNMC nursing students who participated.
