Pursuing a healthcare career?

Project HELP (Health Education Laddering Program) is a five year grant funded project through the Department of Health and Human Services. It is designed to assist income-eligible individuals with education, training, and supportive services that will place them on a healthcare career pathway to jobs that pay well and are in high demand.

Students who are accepted through random lottery assignment may receive scholarships, tutoring, academic assistance through advising and workshops, career coaching through classes, and other financial incentives. Students must meet with their success coach monthly to stay active in the Project HELP program.

Eligibility

To qualify for services a student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, be able to receive federal benefits, be identified as a Northeast student, and meet income guidelines under 200% of federal poverty level.

Students must be enrolled in one of the following healthcare programs:

  • Medication Aide
  • Nursing Assistant
  • EMT/Paramedic
  • Practical Nursing
  • Registered Nursing
  • Surgery Technician
  • Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Health Information Management Services

Services Offered

Project HELP offers individual support, tutoring, referrals, college success and career coaching, scholarships and more.

  • Required academic advising and success coaching
  • Assistance completing FAFSA
  • College Success classes
  • Access to a laptop through checkout program
  • Employment and career classes/workshops
  • Scholarships
  • Financial assistance for tools, scrubs and fuel

Selection Process

Project HELP will use random assignment to determine eligibility.

HPOG is a study funded by the federal government which is being conducted to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs. During the study, all new eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities. Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate in these opportunities.
