Scores from four different players lift Northeast over York, 5-1

by amandab  9/12/2017 8:50:32 AM --  NORFOLK, NE - Goals from four different players gave the Northeast Community College men’s soccer team a win over York College JV at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk yesterday. Final score was 5-1.

“I felt the boys played a very dominant game,” said Chad Miller, Hawks coach. “We controlled the pace and seemed to be able to attack from every angle.”

Miller said York’s goalies were able to keep the score close in the first half, which ended with a 2-0 Northeast lead.

“We were able to find more space in the second half that allowed us to get some good chances on goal and get the score. There were a few times I felt we were trying to rush it too much, which would take us out of our game a little, but the boys did well to bring it back under control. The boys are seeing what they can do as a team, and they are having fun with it.”

Northeast had 13 shots on goal to York’s six.

Anthony Kosch scored two goals for Northeast, the first assisted by Cale Frahm and Victor Luis Galterio, the second assisted by Nickolas Gamma. Andrew Marsh had one goal with assist from Frahm; Galterio scored one assisted by Tiago Cunha da Costa; and Gamma, one, with an assist from da Costa.

Massimiliano Simonazzi had four saves for the Hawks, and Nate Broders had two.

Northeast (2-4) will travel to Rosemount, MN, on Saturday to face Dakota County Technical College in a 2 p.m. game.
