Hawks baseball competes in first-ever Region XI tournament, beats Iowa Lakes to advance

CLINTON, IA - The Northeast Community College baseball team found success on the first day of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Region XI Division II baseball tournament. The #7 Hawks defeated #8 Iowa Lakes Community College in the play-in game, 11-9.

This is Northeast’s first-ever Region XI tournament.

The Hawks came up scoreless in the first two innings but went on to score seven runs in the third and four in the fifth.

Donovan Warren went 1-3 with two runs, two RBIs and a double. Christian Dumont was 1-4 with two runs, an RBI and a double. Drew Smith finished 2-4 with one run and two RBIs; Brennen Bales, 2-5 with one run, a double and three RBIs; Tanner Hunt, 2-5 with one run, one triple and one RBI.

Lane Koetter earned the win. Bales had the save.

The Hawks (18-36-1) advance to face #2 North Iowa Area Community College in Game 4 of the tournament today at 6 p.m.
