Hispanic community to be focus of lecture at Northeast in South Sioux City

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE - The Visiting Lecture Series at the Northeast Community College South Sioux City extended campus will continue later this month with a new speaker and topic. Erica DeLeon will present a lecture on the economic, civic and cultural aspects of the Hispanic population in the Siouxland region.

The lecture will be held Friday, April 13, from 1-2:30 p.m. in Room 126 of the South Sioux City extended campus, 1001 College Way. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.

DeLeon is the director of One Siouxland, a collective impact, multisector initiative to welcome and integrate all who call Siouxland home. DeLeon previously served as director of development and community engagement at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA, and the executive director of the Mary J. Treglia Community House, a local nonprofit working to educate and empower the community’s newest citizens. She currently sits on several area board committees.

The new Visiting Lectures Series is part of TGIF (Trending Topics, Great Gatherings, Insightful Information, Friday Fun) at Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus. It is designed for the general public and will host other speakers from diverse backgrounds throughout the spring semester.
