AMES, IA – The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Alayna Allen of Northeast Community College as its DII Softball Athlete of the Week.
Allen, a freshman left hander from Columbus, pitched two victories in the circle for the Hawks.
While pitching against the Concordia University JV and North Platte Community College, Allen had two memorable performances. During the two victories, she only allowed one earned run while striking out a total of 15 batters. Not only did Allen pitch well, she was also a key offensive component during both games. Allen hit 9 for 12 and had a total of nine RBIs. Today in Columbus, Allen pitched a no-hitter in game one of a doubleheader against Central Community College.
Allen also has an impressive batting average of .516 thus far this season.
The Hawks will be in action on Friday as the team travels to Boone, IA, for a doubleheader against Des Moines Area Community College. Games will be at 2-4 p.m.
