Travis Morgan will tell the story of how choosing Northeast Community College impacted his life and how different career paths led to his present success.

Morgan will give his lecture on Friday, February 16, from 1-2:30 p.m. in Room 126 of the South Sioux City extended campus, 1001 College Way. The event is free and open to the public.

A graduate of Northeast, Morgan has previously worked as a broadcast journalist at KCAU in Sioux City, IA, and as marketing director for WinnaVegas Casino Resort in Sloan, IA. Last year he was named the first chief executive officer of the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.

“There are few people in the Siouxland area who aren’t familiar with the vivacious Travis Morgan, and we are thrilled that he is our next Visiting Lecture speaker,” said Dr. Cyndi Hanson, executive director of Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus.

“Travis’s energy, enthusiasm and excitement for all things in life is contagious. He will engage the audience in his story of college and career progression, which is something that will be interesting for parents, grandparents, current students, future students and anyone thinking about going back to college.”

Hanson said Morgan will also bring special gifts for some attendees.

The new Visiting Lectures Series is part of TGIF (Trending Topics, Great Gatherings, Insightful Information, Friday Fun) at Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus. It is designed for the general public and will host other speakers from diverse backgrounds throughout the spring semester.

Other speakers scheduled for the Visiting Lectures Series will include Pam Miller, director of industry and investor relations at Siouxland Ethanol, LLC, on women who are tackling roles in fields traditionally dominated by men; Erica DeLeon, director of One Siouxland, on the economic, civic and cultural aspects of the Hispanic population in Siouxland; and Jake Rains, drone pilot and photographer, on the future of drones in various industries.
