NORFOLK, NE – Melkisedek Moreaux had 20 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in leading the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team to a 94-76 win over Lake Region State College (SD) on the first day of the Hawks Holiday Classic in the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk.
Northeast jumped out early and didn’t look back. Hot shooting and transition play helped the Hawks build a large halftime lead, 51-35 while the Hawks were up by as many as 30 points in the second half.
Moses Byekwaso added 19 points and four rebounds for the Hawks. Steve Wooten and Allen Anderson added 13 each in the win. Julius Sakinis added 12 points and seven rebounds as well.
In the first game of the tournament on Friday, Southwestern Community College defeated the Briar Cliff University JV 105-102.
On Saturday, Southwestern will face Lake Region at 1 p.m., while Northeast (9-6) will face the Briar Cliff at 3 p.m.
