Hawks women's basketball nets 77-70 win over Morningside JV

NORFOLK, NE - In their third game in four days, the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team netted another win. The Hawks defeated Morningside College JV, 77-70.

“We looked mentally and physically tired,” said Matt Svehla, Northeast coach. “We had too many possessions where we just were not very sharp on either end of the court. I will give Morningside credit because they did a good job on the defensive end of the court, and their offense had us on our heels. We did some nice things, too, but we need to be more fundamentally sound and play more consistent.”

Mykala Baylor had an impressive night on the glass, tallying 21 points and 20 rebounds. Sierra Bell totaled 16 points, five rebounds and eight assists. Jade Blackburn and Lauren Hunstad had eight points each.

Jenna Heine led the Mustangs with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Northeast (6-0) is back in action on Friday when they travel to North Platte Community College for a 5 p.m. game.
