Northeast men's basketball struggles at Hawks Classic

NORFOLK, NE - The Northeast Community College men's basketball team earned their first and second losses of the season at the Hawks Classic here this weekend. On Friday, the Hawks fell to Iowa Lakes Community College, 115-111, and on Saturday, they were defeated by Iowa Central Community College, 94-66.

On Friday against the Lakers, Moses Byekwaso led the Hawks with 22 points, and Jeremiah Codden chipped in 21. Melkisedek Moreaux ended the game with an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double.

In Saturday's game, Iowa Central took an early halftime lead, which the Hawks were unable to overcome. Allen Anderson led Northeast with 20 points and five assists. Moreaux netted 17 points and six rebounds, and Codden finished with 14 points.

The Hawks (3-2) will take on Morningside College JV on Monday at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus. Game time is 8 p.m., following the women's game, which is set for 6 p.m.
