Hawks volleyball steps up to sweep Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE, IA - The Northeast Community College volleyball is now 8-6 after sweeping Iowa Lakes Community College here last night (26-24, 25-16, 25-21).

“Tonight was a good win,” said Amanda Schultze, Hawks coach. “We played a little sloppy at the beginning of the first and third sets but stepped it up and fought back to get the win.”

Schultze said Monique Schafer performed exceptionally well last night, recording 12 kills, 14 digs and three assists.

Macy Stewart had seven kills, three ace serves, 14 digs and two assists. Taylor Lammers led solo blocks with three, while Samantha Brester and Savannah Nelson recorded two assist blocks each. Nelson also had 11 digs and led the Hawks in assists with 33.

Northeast will travel to Boone, IA, to face #19 Des Moines Area Community College on Wednesday, September 13, for a 6:30 p.m. game.
