Hawks finish 2-2 at Northeast Tournament

NORFOLK, NE – The Northeast Community College volleyball team finished 2-2 at the Northeast Tournament here over the weekend.

In Saturday’s first match, the Hawks swept Marshalltown Community College (IA), 25-12, 25-12, 25-16.

For Northeast, Elizabeth Selting recorded 10 kills while Monique Schafer finished with nine kills and Samantha Brester had eight. Schafer had one solo block and one assist while Taylor Lammers finished with three assists. Ace serves: Macy Stewart, four; Schafer and Nelson finished with two each. Digs: Schafer, 17; Selting, 13; and Peyton Roach, 12. Assists: Nelson, 33, Roach, two.

In the second match of the day, Northeast fell to Colby Community College (KS), 25-15, 25-23, 25-22.

Kills: Lammers, eight; Stewart, six. Blocks: Stewart, one solo, two assists, Lammers, three assists Ace serves: Schafer, one. Digs: Roach, 19, Schafer, 14. Assists: Nelson, 25, Roach, two.

Northeast finished 1-1 on day one of the tournament, sweeping Lake Region State College (ND) 25-18, 25-9, 25-15 and then fell to Fort Scott Community College (KS) 25-11, 27-25, 25-15.

The Hawks (7-6) will travel to Estherville, IA, on Wednesday to face Iowa Lakes Community College at 7 p.m.
