Northeast students look to the sky for solar eclipse

NORFOLK, NE - Tegan Karella (left), Norfolk, and Kourtney Hoefler, Battle Creek, observe the 2017 solar eclipse through a telescope on the lawn of the Science Building on the Northeast Community College campus in Norfolk.

Students observed the eclipse using various methods, including eclipse glasses and images projected through colanders as well as telescopes with solar filters. The eclipse reached 97.577 percent totality in Norfolk, with maximum obscuration lasting around one minute. (Courtesy Northeast Community College)
