Montana transfer commits to Northeast

MILES CITY, MT - A transfer student from a community college in Montana has signed with the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team. Gemma Recasens, who previously played for Miles City Community College in Miles City, Montana, will join the Hawks this fall.

Originally from Catalonia region of Spain, Recasens only attended Miles City during the Spring 2017 semester, so she has not used any eligibility, said Matt Svehla, Northeast coach.

While in Spain, Recasens, a 5’7” guard, played for Uni Girona CB and competed in three Spanish championships.

“Gemma is a guard with good basketball skills, but she also has a good sense of how to play the game,” Svehla said. “She sees the floor well and can score. Even though she did not play at Miles City Community College this past year, that experience gained will serve her well.”

Recasens is one of three recruits from Spain to join the Hawks for the 2017-2018 season. The women’s basketball season is set to begin November 1.
