NORFOLK - The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team has added a recruit from Papillion-La Vista South High School to its 2017-18 roster. Baileigh Nuzum, a 5’7” guard, has signed to play for the Hawks this fall.

Nuzum was named honorable mention for the All-State and All-Metro teams and was also selected to play in the Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game. A left-handed player, she averages nine points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game and also shoots 35 percent from the three-point line.

“Baileigh is a well-rounded guard who will be a good fit for our program,” said Matt Svehla, Northeast coach. “Her Papillion-La Vista South team was pretty athletic and played uptempo. That experience, and playing in the Omaha Metro league, will serve her well at the college level. She will be comfortable with how we want to play.”

Nuzum joins Jade Blackburn, Surrey, United Kingdom, Kori Fischer, South Sioux City, Lauren Hunstad, Parker, SD, and Teagan Pompa, Elgin, IL, as the latest players to sign with Northeast women’s basketball.
