Spring Concert is this Sunday

NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College Music Department will soon present its final concert of the 2016-17 academic year. The annual Spring Concert will be held on Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk.

Under the Direction of Department Chair and Director of Choral Music Activities, Dr. Linda Boullion, the Northeast Concert Choir, Women’s Ensemble, and Men’s Ensemble will perform. Margaret Schultz is the accompanist for the vocal groups.

Vocal selections at the concert will include “Alleluia, Alleluia!” by Amy Bernon; “The April Rainbow,” by   Laura Farnell; “A Festive Alleluia,” by Mary Lynn Lightfoot; “Ubi Caritas,” by Ola Gjeilo,” Come Away,” by Mark Hayes; “and “Jubilee!” arranged by Ken Berg.

The Northeast College/Community Concert Band, under the direction of Kevin McLouth, music instructor/director of instrumental activities, will also perform.

Selections by the concert band will include “United Nations March,” by Karl King and arranged by Swearingen; “A Longford Legend,” by Robert Sheldon; “Air for Band,” by Frank Erickson; and “Incantation and Dance,” by John Barnes Chance.

There will be an “appreciation reception” following the event.

The concert is free and open to the public.
