NORFOLK - The Spring Career Fair at Northeast Community College in Norfolk will attract a large number of Northeast students and alumni this year, and employers in a wide variety of business and industry are invited to register for this year’s event.

Representatives from over 60 companies, agencies and organizations are currently registered for the Spring Career Fair, which will take place on Wednesday, March 15, from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., in the Cox Activities Center gymnasium.

Terri Heggemeyer, director of Career Services at Northeast, said the career fair offers an excellent opportunity for employers to connect with students who may become future employees.

“Students have the opportunity to learn so much more from a personal conversation with a business representative compared to simply reviewing the company’s website and applying online. Through attendance at the Career Fair, students are often exposed to new job opportunities and companies. I believe this type of interaction can open new doors to both the businesses and our students.”

Organizations from a variety of career fields will be represented at the Career Fair, including agriculture, manufacturing, retail, criminal justice and technical, among others.

“Employer registrations are still being accepted,” said Heggemeyer. “We hope to reach capacity again this year with 90 employers.”

The Northeast Community College Career Services Office offers a variety of services to prepare students for today’s workforce. This includes providing one-on-one advisement and personal attention to students as they look for employment; posts jobs daily to the Northeast on-line job board; assists with writing and completing résumés, cover letters, and applications, and offers lifetime employment assistance to alumni.

Northeast Community College offers over 80 programs and concentrations of study. These include technical, vocational, business, liberal arts, and transfer programs.

To register for the Spring Career Fair, employers can visit http://www.northeast.edu/Career-Services/Job-Fair-Registration.aspx or contact Heggemeyer at (402) 844-7263, or Amy Koehler at (402) 844-7264. The deadline to register is March 1.
