Elgin/Pope John standout to play volleyball at Northeast

NORFOLK - An Elgin/Pope John standout has signed to play volleyball at Northeast next fall. Elizabeth Selting will join the Hawks from Elgin/Pope John, where she was a four-year starter and four-year letter winner.

In her career with the Wolfpack, Selting recorded 1,101 kills, 180 blocks, 141 aces, 579 digs and 901 serve receives. The team ended #3 in the Class D1 rankings this year and were district runners up in Selting’s freshman, sophomore and junior years.

In 2016, Selting won Class D1 first team honors from the Niobrara Valley Conference, Norfolk Daily News, Antelope County News, Nebraska Prep and Omaha World Herald. She was also named to Class D1 state tournament teams by the Lincoln Journal Star and Nebraska Prep, and to the Lincoln Journal Star’s Class D1 second team.

Selting’s junior year was marked by a number of Class C2 honors, including the Niobrara Valley Conference first team, Norfolk Daily News second team, and honorable mention honors from Nebraska Prep, Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.

Savannah Nelson, a four-year letter winner at Wakefield High School, also signed recently with Northeast.
