Hawks golf team finishes 4th at Northeast Invitational

NORFOLK - The Northeast Community College golf team finished fourth after the final day of the four-team Northeast Invitational at Fair Play Golf Course on Tuesday. The Hawks shot a two-day total of 635 Iowa Lakes Community College won with a 594, while Midland University's B team came in second with a 601. In third, Midland's C team finished at 614.

Matt Bennett of Iowa Lakes earned medalist honors after firing a 7-under 137. Preston Walford of Midland's C team took second with 4-over 148.

Jamy McCoy led for Northeast, finishing 8-over 152 to tie for 7th. Dalton Lammers fired 16-over 160, Brooks Coleman notched 19-over 163, Chase Hopper had 19-over 163, and Gage Garnas, 21-over 165.

Competing as individuals for the Hawks, Tyler Lewis tied for 11th at 9-over 153, and Cody Steuter shot 17-over 161.

Northeast's next outing will be on Tuesday, March 29, for the Southeast Invitational at the Beatrice Country Club in Beatrice. Tee time for the one-day tournament is 12 p.m.
