Degrees and Programs
The Culinary Arts program will prepare you for many jobs in the rapidly-growing food service industry. This program is offered in partnership with Metropolitan Community College (MCC) in Omaha. You'll take your first year of classes through Northeast and your second year through MCC.
Courses and Program Options
You'll learn about nutrition, supervision techniques, people skills, and culinary foundations. You'll have the opportunity to use your skills in a real commercial kitchen setting and be prepared for a career in the kitchen as a chef or highly trained culinary when you complete this degree.
The Metropolitan Community College program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Accrediting Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Hospitality Management.
Career Information
Job opportunities for chefs, and food preparation workers are expected to be plentiful because of the continued growth and expansion of food services outlets, resulting in average employment growth. Dining trends suggest that an increasing number of meals are eaten away from home, which creates growth in family dining restaurants.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the average salary for a chef or head cook in Nebraska is $33,260.
