Health Information Management Systems
Health information management represents a continuum of practice concerned with health-related information and the management of systems to collect, store, process, retrieve, analyze, disseminate, and communicate information in a medical entity. Hospitals, clinics, nursing facilities, health insurance companies, and government agencies are potential employers in both paper-based and computer-based patient record environments.
The associates degree Health Information Management Program is in Candidacy Status, pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Graduates of the HIMS program will then be able to sit for the RHIT national qualifying examination upon successful accreditation of the program.
