Basic Nurse Aide

This course is designed to meet the Nebraska Health & Human Services System training requirements for nurse aide certification and employment in long-term care facilities. This course combines classroom lecture and laboratory application for the development of basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age, in a long-term care facility. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state written and practical skills exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the students name will be placed on the basic nurse aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. The book is located in the campus bookstore, 402-844-7140. CLASS CANNOT BE REGISTERED ONLINE. An additional $45 fee will be required if student choose to register to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam at the end of the course. This $45 fee will be required at the time of the non-credit exam registration. **More specific class information may be listed in "Take This Class".**

Construction Contractors Seminar

This course covers Nebraska sales and use tax as it applies to construction contractors. You will benefit from this course if you perform construction services or handle bookkeeping for contractors. If you ever need to hire a contractor, this course will explain to customers what forms need to be completed and how the invoice they receive should look. The presentation will cover licensing requirements, contractor registration, contractor options, exemptions, reporting, and taxable services. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. 3 Hours of CPE Credit available. This course will be offered via distance learning technology from Norfolk to O'Neill, South Sioux City and West Point.

Professional Truck Driver Training (SSC)

This training program is designed around weekends for your convenience. Students will learn to operate articulated vehicles in a training environment that includes driving on city streets, two-lane, and interstate highways. The program includes 240 contact hours including 50 hours of behind the wheel training and 190 hours of classroom, lab, and observation. An ESL test will be provided if necessary. South Sioux City has a 12 week course scheduled from 6-10 pm on Fridays and from 8 am - 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. *Financial assistance is available through the Community College GAP Assistance Program for students meeting income guidelines. Tuition does NOT include the cost of books, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR report, learner’s permit or the CDL license.
