The schedule of Short Term classes at Northeast

CDL Training - Hartington/Norfolk

Instruction will include everything you will need to know to pass the license exam, pre-trip inspection, and practical driving test. You will spend 16 hours in the classroom that will prepare you for the written test needed to obtain a learner's permit. You will then complete the 40-hour driving portion of the course in Norfolk, which will culminate with a driving test. The testing fee is included in the course cost. The classroom portion will be completed September 7-8 at the Hartington City Offices. The driving/testing portion will take place at Norfolk Campus October 2-6. Driver's Education

This is a Provisional Operators Permit Driver Training course for individuals 14-17 years old. You will acquire the basic skills to operate a vehicle. Bring Learner's or School permit to the first class. 20 hours of classroom and at least 6 hours of driving are required. The book is provided for the class. Parents/Guardians are asked to attend the first part of the first class along with the student. The driving experience will be arranged with the student.

Motorcycle Rider Course

The Motorcycle Rider Course (MRC) is a 15-hour course which includes 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding instruction. The course begins with the basics of turning, shifting, and braking and then moves onto the advanced skills and strategies for street riding. Professionally trained instructors teach in the classroom and then coach riders in a controlled riding area. Within 30 days of course completion, participants are required to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic eCourse. Details regarding eCourse will be sent to you after registering for the MRC course. There is no additional cost for the mandatory eCourse.

Professional Truck Driver Training

The training program is an intensive course. The students will go for night drives and long runs during the course. This entails gone for a week, overnights and 14-hour days. Students will learn to operate articulated vehicles in a training environment that includes driving on city streets, two-lane, and interstate highways. The program includes 240 contact hours, 44+ hours of behind the wheel training and 190 hours of classroom, lab, and observation. An ESL test will be provided if necessary. Tuition does not include the cost of books, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR report, learner’s permit or the CDL license. The Norfolk location offers six-week course scheduled Monday through Friday, meeting 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The South Sioux City location offers twelve-week course scheduled Fridays 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Financial assistance is available through the Community College GAP Assistance Program for students meeting income guidelines. This training program is designed around weekends for your convenience. Students will learn to operate articulated vehicles in a training environment that includes driving on city streets, two-lane, and interstate highways. The program includes 240 contact hours including 50 hours of behind the wheel training and 190 hours of classroom, lab, and observation. An ESL test will be provided if necessary. South Sioux City has a 12 week course scheduled from 6-10 pm on Fridays and from 8 am - 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. *Financial assistance is available through the Community College GAP Assistance Program for students meeting income guidelines. Tuition does NOT include the cost of books, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR report, learner’s permit or the CDL license.
