Head Coach Dan Anderson

Head Coach Dan AndersonDan Anderson is beginning his 19th season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Northeast, with over 41 years of total coaching experience after this season. The Doon, Iowa, native has compiled a 468-440 career colligate record. During his tenure with the Hawks, he has been named the Nebraska Athletic Conference Coach of the Year four times. In 2000-2001, Anderson was named the Region IX Coach of the Year. Over his tenure, Anderson has been involved with recruiting, financial aid, advising, basketball operations, player development, and camps.

After graduating high school from Rock Valley Public Schools, Anderson went on to receive his Associative Arts Degree at Iowa Lakes Community College. He proceeded to obtain his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education from Augustana College.

Anderson began his coaching career in 1976 at Canton High School in Canton, South Dakota. He served as the Varsity Assistant Coach for 10 years. After Canton High School, Anderson became the Graduate Assistant at Augustana College for the 1986-87 season. Augustana compiled a 19-9 record that year. Anderson received his Master’s in Exercise Science through the University of South Dakota while being the Graduate Assistant.

One year after taking the Graduate Assistant job at Augustana College, Anderson was named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Iowa Western Community College. He spent eight seasons as the Head Coach and compiled 112-134 record. After his stint at Iowa Western Community College, Anderson returned to his Alma Matter, Augustana College, as Assistant Coach. During the four seasons as Assistant, he helped Augustana College to a 56-53 record.

Coach Anderson has tallied over 41 years of coaching experience. He has been associated with 468 career wins. Over his tenure, Anderson has been involved with recruiting, financial aid, advising, basketball operations, player development, and camps.

Dan and his wife, Kris, are the parents to three children: Meagan (Caleb), Molly (Efrain), and Mickey. They are also the grandparents of four: Aiden, Elyn, Aftyn, and Ezra.

Assistant Coach Zach Towle

Coach Towle Towle begins his fourth year as Assistant Coach. Zach has received his bachelor degree in Sports and Recreation Management from Ashford University. While attending Ashford University Zach was on the Dean’s list finished with a 3.66 GPA. Zach is currently pursuing his Masters in Athletic Administration. .

Zach has coached the 16 and Under Minnesota Magic squad that held current Northeast player Kyle McKinley. The Minnesota Magic competed on a national level that had two players sign division 1 scholarships and four players sign division 2 scholarships, Kyle McKinley signed with University of Albany NCAA D1, Max Curran signed with University of Maryland Baltimore County NCAA D1, Logan Weyer signed with Upper Iowa NCAA D2, Clay Seifert signed with Bemidji State NCAA D2, Connor Gamble signed with Minnesota Crookston NCAA D2, and Cole Peters signed with Concordia St, Paul NCAA D2. .

Zach will assist the basketball program with day to day operations, he also will overseas recruiting, player development, and assisting the coaching staff in developing game strategies, breaking down game film, planning practices and contributing in staff meetings. Zach is the son of John and Lynn Towle. .

Zach Towle was a 2009 graduate of Concordia Academy in Roseville, Minnesota. The Maplewood, Minnesota, native was a four-year starter at Concordia Academy where he scored over 2,500 career points and had multiple games over 40 points. He holds a state record of 373 three-pointers made during a career. Zach holds schools records in points, steals, and assists. The three-point specialist is on the high school national scoring list for three-point made in a career. .

After graduation he attended Northeast Community College where he played for Head Coach Dan Anderson. While at Northeast he knocked down 139 three-pointers and was a two-time All Nebraska Conference Honoree was nominated to Jerry Mullins top 100 camp. After graduation, Towle attended Concordia St. Paul, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He appeared in 39 games over his two years at the NSIC Division 2 School. He knocked down 29 threes during his tenure.

Assistant Coach Junior Denis

Assistant Coach Junior Denis Junior Denis native of Nassau, Bahamas enters his third season as an Assistant for Coach Anderson.

Junior lead the Providence storm in the semifinals AAU circuit in 2010 then signed with Northeast Hawks Men’s basketball program in 2011 season. In 2014 Junior decided it was time to trade in his shoes for a black tie and a suit and join the Northeast Men’s basketball coaching staff.

Denis has volunteered with Northeast youth basketball camps for three summers. While in high school Junior has led C.I. Gibson to three GSSSA championships under legendary Bahamas coach Kevin Johnson. Coach Junior spent this past summer coaching 5th and 6th grade boys.
