NORFOLK, Neb. -- It was less than 50 feet across the stage when Northeast Community College students completed a black box theatre production of “Silence,” but it took audiences back over 1,000 years.
Northeast puts on four shows a school year, three of which are co-produced with the Norfolk Community Theater, which began in 1964. This year’s final show was produced by the Northeast Theatre Department, with the final performance a matinee on Sunday, April 28.
Adam Peterson served as the director, production manager and light designer. Peterson, who is the theatre instructor at Northeast, has stated that working on a show, they spend so much time together that they become like an “adopted family.”
This adopted family or production team included the following:
The cast featured Bridgett Long of Dodge, a first-year student; Ashley Brown of Stanton, an alum of Northeast; Alex McKeown of Battle Creek, a second-year student; Presley Wolf of Battle Creek, who is a high school student; Dustyn Loefler, who is a Norfolk High School graduate; and Payton Robinson of Madison, who is a first-year student.
Others who assisted, along with their roles, were:
Marie Kubo, assistant director, hair and make-up/stand in; Gabby Vaughn, stage manager; Charlie Starkel, costume design/stand in; Kai Okamoto, light board operator; Charlie Henkel, sound design and operation; Brody Maurer, stage crew; Elijah Clay, stage crew; Gina Krysl, intimacy coordinator; Micah Goedeken, sound crew and stand-in; Hunter Patterson, rigging; Ethan Emerick, properties; Jaiden Ertzner, wardrobe; Jaden Timm, stage crew; Jay Grote, assistant stage manager; and Stacey Aldag, house manager.
Wade Herley, dean of Business and Humanities, expressed his appreciation to the faculty, staff, students, and community members for their dedication and commitment to the college and community theater collaboration.
“Their work behind the scenes and on stage is crucial to producing the high-quality shows that we have seen in the past and have come to expect,” Herley said. “The collaboration continues to produce excellent shows unmatched in our 20-county service area.”
